  • Submitted by: Meghan Gallacher, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 17 April 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08559

That the Parliament welcomes the further grant of over £1 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore the historic Carluke High Mill; understands that the Carluke Development Trust has secured this grant alongside the funding of £1.2 million from the Regeneration Capital Grant to deliver the historic mill project to develop a heritage attraction, community learning hub and garden; further understands that, for hundreds of years, the mill has been a prominent feature of the Carluke landscape and is believed to be the last remaining windmill in Scotland; believes that its restoration will benefit the community as it will promote its heritage, whilst providing a variety of opportunities in skills, employment and volunteering, and commends the Carluke Development Trust and all of the partner organisations involved with this important project for the site and the community.
