Commending the Work of Puneet Dwivedi

  • Submitted by: Alex Cole-Hamilton, Edinburgh Western, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 12 April 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08511

That the Parliament commends the work of Puneet Dwivedi for his community activism; understands that Mr Dwivedi has made a hugely positive contribution to his community by devoting his time to feed those in need; further understands that his efforts helped to establish the Hate Crime Security Fund and that he successfully campaigned for the Scottish Government to fund this initiative, which, it believes, has benefited people of all faiths in Scotland by providing them with the necessary resources to protect their places of worship; acknowledges his work to foster interfaith links by bringing together members of the Muslim, Hindu and Sikh faiths to celebrate the 550th Anniversary of the Birth of Guru Nanak, the Founder of Sikhism; considers that Mr Dwivedi has also been instrumental in starting the Edinburgh chapter of Go Dharmic and organising the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan across Scotland to thank emergency workers and recognise the efforts of NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, and thanks Puneet Dwivedi for what it sees as his tireless efforts in his community.
