  • Submitted by: Emma Roddick, Highlands and Islands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 13 March 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08182

That the Parliament recognises the efforts of John Baraclough in covering 83 miles during a one-month running challenge in aid of Prostate Cancer UK; understands that John, from Inverness, originally set out to reach 52.4 miles, equalling the distance of two marathons, but exceeded his own expectations, ending the month with an impressive 83 miles under his belt; recognises that John was inspired to take part after being treated for prostate cancer between 2018 and 2021, and that the charity had been a great help during his diagnoses and treatment; notes that Prostate Cancer UK’s bumper running squad, which John was part of, collectively raised more than £500,000 by walking and running more than 61,000 miles; congratulates John on what it sees as his significant efforts in raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, and wishes him all the very best going forward.
