Congratulating Renfrewshire Charity Brightest Star on its 10th Anniversary

  • Submitted by: Natalie Don, Renfrewshire North and West, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 08 March 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08149

That the Parliament congratulates Renfrewshire charity, Brightest Star, on its 10th anniversary of supporting families who have experienced the bereavement of a young child; believes that the pain of losing a child is one of the most difficult things a family can experience and therefore fully appreciates the absolutely vital work and support that Brightest Star provides to families who have felt this loss; notes that the charity provides families with tailored bereavement support, counselling, paediatric first aid courses, and a specialised family ambulance where required, and thoughtfully provides memory boxes with keepsakes for families to cherish; wholeheartedly thanks the charity’s founder, Arlene Smith, who formed Brightest Star following the most difficult of circumstances, the tragic death of her son, Jack, just six days before his sixth birthday; thanks all who have supported Brightest Star over the last 10 years, and wishes the charity all the best for its crucial work going forward.
