  • Submitted by: Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 08 March 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08136

That the Parliament congratulates Grace Stirling, from Culross, Naomi Gill, from Stirling, and Sean Saunders, from Kirkcaldy, all in the Mid Scotland and Fife region, on being selected for a national sportscotland panel; understands that the Young People’s Sport Panel, which was created in 2012, provides a national platform to represent the voice of young people across Scotland; believes that the role of the panel is to help influence and shape the future of sport in Scotland and to raise the profile of sport; acknowledges that the programme's principle is that young people's views are heard and valued, and that they have the opportunity to influence decision making and drive change; recognises that the National Lottery-funded programme is managed by sportscotland and supported by Young Scot, and understands that 20 young people aged between 15 and 23 have been recruited into the 2023-25 cohort of the Young People’s Sport Panel, including 14 young women, people from diverse ethnic communities, disabled people and people from rural and island communities.
