  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 07 March 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08074

That the Parliament commends Alistair Doyle from Coatbridge, for his longstanding fundraising efforts for Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow; notes that Alistair has been welcoming an audience to his Christmas display outside his home in Kirkwood for 20 years, and began taking donations in 2006; congratulates Alistair on the £12,202 raised in 2023, bringing his total to an amazing £118,600; notes that this will be Alistair's final year fundraising; understands that Alistair was inspired to fundraise by the tragic loss of two of his nieces to leukaemia; notes that Ronald McDonald House offers the families of children receiving treatment a "home-away-from-home" in nearby accommodation; recognises that since 1989, the UK Houses have supported over 60,000 families to be together during this critical time; further recognises that Alistair's donation will go to the Ronald McDonald House in Glasgow, which is a small independent charity for whom efforts like these are especially invaluable; applauds the hard work that makes this possible, and that work to create the festive displays begins in October, and wishes Alistair a long and extremely well deserved retirement and a restful break following his busy holiday season.
