Monifieth Woman Raises £100,000 for Breast Cancer Research

  • Submitted by: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 08 February 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07789

That the Parliament congratulates Monifieth’s Fiona Edwards on the culmination of two decades of fundraising for breast cancer research through the sale of around 280,000 bars of homemade tablet, plus recent sponsorship, which has seen £100,000 go towards the University of Dundee’s efforts on tackling the disease; welcomes the university’s recognition of this with a specially-commissioned medal, itself made from a piece of tablet preserved in resin, recently presented during a ceremony at Ninewells Hospital’s Clinical Research Centre; understands that Fiona has received previous awards for her fundraising, which started in 2003 after she herself recovered from breast cancer; commends her efforts over the years, and wishes her all the best for a more restful future.
