Deafblind Scotland Member Rory Donaldson Wins National Award

That the Parliament congratulates Rory Donaldson from Lenzie, whose inspiring achievements were recognised by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) at its 2022 Self Management Awards; commends Rory’s courage and the life-changing decisions that led to him winning the category for Positive Self Management in Sensory Loss; delights at Rory’s commitment to learning the Moon system of embossed reading at Deafblind Scotland; is grateful to everyone who enabled Rory to improve his skills through RNIB resources and one-to-one support at Deafblind Scotland; understands that the Moon system is an alternative to braille and is an extremely effective communication tool in reading and writing; applauds Rory’s tenacity to use his skills to adapt teaching resources to encourage and enable remote learners of Deafblind Scotland to improve their skills independently; appreciates the immense time, effort and dedication that Rory has given so enthusiastically; recognises that Rory has pushed his own boundaries as a quiet, reserved person, and that he has grown in confidence to become a role model for others; gratefully acknowledges Rory’s proud parents and brother, Doreen, John and Fraser, for their phenomenal support in empowering Rory to push social boundaries and release his talents to have such a tangible impact on others; thanks the judging panel at the ALLIANCE for their consideration and diligence in considering all nominations for its prestigious awards; congratulates all nominees and winners for the outstanding impact of their activities, and sends Rory, his family and all at Deafblind Scotland every best wish for the future.
