Commending Lucas Webster

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 11 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07427

That the Parliament commends Lucas Webster on his efforts in raising £450 to help those with kidney failure, despite experiencing kidney failure himself; understands that due to Lucas’ long stays at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as an inpatient and recipient of dialysis, he knows the challenges facing those living with kidney failure and that those experiences are what inspired him to launch an online campaign to raise money for, and awareness of renal failure; further understands that the money will help those with renal failure taken into hospital in an emergency to buy essential items they may need in hospital such as pyjamas and toiletries; notes that Lucas has now been waiting for a kidney transplant for three years and currently undergoes six hourly dialyses sessions three times a week in order to keep his kidneys functioning; commends him once again on his fundraising achievements, and wishes him the best of luck in receiving a kidney transplant.
