  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 06 December 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-07081

That the Parliament welcomes a new round of funding announced by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport on behalf of the UK Government, which, it understands, will offer Scottish grassroots clubs the ability to transform and upgrade their facilities for the benefit of local communities; understands that this £2 million investment is the second round of funding being invested in Scottish grassroots football by the UK government, with £2 million having already been delivered by the Scottish FA in 2021-22; further understands that clubs will be able to apply for funding to make improvements to their existing facilities in three areas: 3G playing surface upgrade or replacement, sustainability, and natural grass improvement; notes that upgrades made possible by the funding already include a new 3G pitch at Forfar Athletic’s, Station Park, which is home to men’s side, Forfar Athletic and women’s side, Forfar Farmington, as well as numerous other youth and recreational clubs and groups; further notes that interested clubs have until 23 December 2022 to apply for funding, and encourages any interested clubs to do so.
