  • Motion reference: S6M-06830

That the Parliament congratulates the City of Glasgow College on receiving a Global Award for Excellence in recognition of the outstanding work the college has achieved over the past 12 years; notes that the award was given from what it considers as the prestigious European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), whose annual EFQM Global Award is designed to recognise organisations that have achieved an “outstanding level of continuous achievement”; acknowledges that, after a six-month assessment, the work of the college was viewed of a quality to be merited the elite 7-Diamond world ranking, seeing the institute become the first in Scotland to receive it; further acknowledges that the college finished third overall in the world in EFQM’s global benchmarking ranking, and achieved the best score for any educational institution in its 33-year history, and celebrates the college also receiving the Outstanding Achievement Global Award for Driving Innovation, and for what it sees as its devotion to its collective purpose to "Let Learning Flourish", enabling, it understands, many students from challenging personal circumstances to study in an outstanding environment and leave with the qualifications necessary and work-ready skills to succeed in the workforce.
