  • Submitted by: Paul Sweeney, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 18 November 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06829

That the Parliament recognises the 100th anniversary of Govan’s War Memorial; acknowledges that the memorial was unveiled on Christmas Eve 1922 and a silver casket was placed inside containing a Roll of Honour; notes that the Roll of Honour included all 1,122 men killed in the First World War from Govan, Ibrox, Cessnock, Plantation, Drumoyne and Linthouse; congratulates the Govan Reminiscence Group on the 2019 refurbishment of the memorial and on tracking down a replica Roll of Honour, after the original was ineligible to read from water damage, and respectfully marks the ceremony on 13 November 2022, which commemorated 100 years of Govan’s War Memorial, where the names displayed on the Roll of Honour were seen for the first time in a century and their stories celebrated.
