Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awareness Month

  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04832

That the Parliament recognises the month of June as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) awareness month; notes that CDH occurs when a child’s diaphragm does not develop correctly; understands that the condition affects one in 2,500 births; further understands that events taking place across the month to raise awareness include charity marathon runs, light shows whereby people are encouraged to illuminate buildings in blue and pink, social media campaigns with people being asked to share their experiences of CDH, and a knitathon where participants will knit bears and sell them to raise funds for CDH charities; praises all the hard work that has gone into delivering the campaign, and commends the healthcare workers and charities, such as CDH UK, who support all those affected by CDH.
