Scottish Bus Week 2022

  • Submitted by: Mark Ruskell, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 20 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04496

That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Bus Week on 23 to 29 May 2022, delivered by Transform Scotland’s #lovemybus campaign team, in partnership with CPT Scotland, and with support from First Bus, Stagecoach, Borders Buses, West Coast Motors, and Paths for All; understands that Scottish Bus Week aims to highlight how buses can help improve citizens' health, tackle the climate emergency, build a fairer transport system, and improve access to opportunities and lifeline services; considers that buses can help reduce congestion, carbon emissions, air pollution, and inequalities across Scotland's communities, as well as make a significant contribution to the economy through investment in low and zero-emission buses and the provision of jobs through bus services and manufacturing; recognises what it sees as the positive impact that the launch of the Young Persons’ (Under 22s) Free Bus Travel scheme has had on encouraging bus patronage; commends everyone involved in delivering this year’s #ScottishBusWeek programme, and encourages everyone to get involved.
