Lauriston Farm Leading the Way for Scotland’s Future as a Good Food Nation

  • Submitted by: Foysol Choudhury, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 06 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04264

That the Parliament congratulates Lauriston Farm, in Edinburgh, on what it sees as its success in realising its vision of being a large-scale urban food growing project that benefits local communities and beyond; understands that the farm seeks to address the issue of availability of local fresh produce and reduce the distance between people and the sources of their food; recognises the farm's efforts to address environmental degradation, including through tree planting; further recognises the educational aspect of the farm's work, which, it understands, allows people from the city to gain experience in food production and an understanding of the wider food system, and believes that projects such as Lauriston Farm are leading the way forward in Scotland’s journey to being a Good Food Nation.
