Kilmarnock FC Victory in Scottish Championship

  • Submitted by: Brian Whittle, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 27 April 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04145

That the Parliament congratulates Kilmarnock Football Club on winning the Scottish Championship with a 2-1 win over Arbroath in Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park Stadium with the winning goal coming from player, Blair Alston, in the 90th minute, following an earlier goal from James Craigen; understands that Kilmarnock will now return to the Scottish Premiership, only a year after their 28-year run in the top flight was ended; recognises the strong support the club enjoys from its fans, as well as what it sees as the exceptional run of results that have been delivered by manager, Derek McInnes, who has seen the club secure 33 points during his 16 games in charge; commends the efforts of the players, coaches, managers, backroom staff and fans at Kilmarnock Football Club who, it considers, have all contributed to this achievement, and hopes that the Club will enjoy continued success as it returns to the top flight of Scottish football.
