  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 April 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03935

That the Parliament congratulates Dunbia Highland Meats Saltcoats on the official opening of its new upgraded facilities; understands that these followed a £12 million investment that includes improvements to the abattoir and cutting areas at the Saltcoats plant; acknowledges that this significant investment will reinforce the long-term expansion of Highland Meats, which employs over 320 staff locally; understands that this investment was supported by £2,350,074.66 of funding from the Scottish Government in a commitment to the long-term future of the plant and the wider meat processing sector, which is worth over £1 billion to the Scottish economy; further understands that Dawn Meats, which is the parent company of Dunbia, has been involved in Scotland since it acquired Highland Meats in 1986; recognises that the upgraded premises were officially opened by HRH the Princess Royal on 31 March 2022 in her capacity as the President of the Scotch Beef Club, with representatives from Quality Meat Scotland, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, local producer suppliers and customers present, and wishes everyone at Dunbia Meats a successful and prosperous future.
