Kirriemuir Locals Raise Over £20,000 for Scottish Huntington’s Association

  • Submitted by: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 05 April 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03882

That the Parliament congratulates Kirriemuir residents, Gill Ferguson, Dianne Scott, Jennifer Paton and Susan and Claire Dyce, as well as Pearsie Estate Head Gamekeeper, Jamie Smith, on raising over £20,000 for the Scottish Huntington’s Association; notes that the Kirriemuir group tackled the Three Peaks Challenge as a way of raising funds to support those affected by Huntington’s disease, and that Mr Smith’s single donation of £3,000, money that he raised separately, pushed them past the £20,000 mark; recognises that a further £3,000 raised by Mr Smith also went to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance; commends the great effort that it understands must have gone into completing the challenge, as well as that of Mr Smith in his own fundraising endeavours, and considers that the total amount raised is a credit to the Kirriemuir community.
