That the Parliament congratulates aspirational 92-year-old, Alice Mackenzie, on receiving Rotary International's highest commendation from the Kirkintilloch Rotarians; understands that The Paul Harris Fellowship Award recognises Service above Self and is bestowed on those whose contribution to the community has been exceptional; notes that Ms Mackenzie, a former Head of Libraries in Paisley, Strathkelvin and East Dunbartonshire, founded the Talking Newspaper, and played a pivotal role in launching the mobile library service; recognises Ms Mackenzie's sacrificial service as a Commissioner in the Girl Guide Association, and in founding the Kirkintilloch Soroptimists; praises her actions through Save the Children in post-revolution Romania; pays tribute to her support of Syrian families seeking refuge in Scotland and the founding of the Jasmine and Thistle group, as represented at a recent UN Conference, and extends every best wish to this quite remarkable resident of Kirkintilloch on this special occasion.
