As an amendment to motion S5M-13114 in the name of Finlay Carson (Farmers and Farmers' Wives Choir Raise Awareness of Mental Health), leave out from ", and wishes the choir" to end and insert "; recognises that the choir started up in response to an invitation to perform as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs, which took place in the SSE Hydro in Glasgow; further recognises that, since the first rehearsal in September 2013, it has performed at high profile events such as the Royal Highland Show and The Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland Awards ceremony; notes that, 12 weeks after holding its first rehearsal, 110 women took to the stage as the Farmers' Wives Choir and 45 men performed in the Farmers Choir; understands that many rural people work in isolation and don’t speak with others regularly, and that the Farmers and Farmers' Wives Choir acts as contact for many who would not frequently attend social events; recognises the benefits that music and teamwork can provide to help boost morale and build confidence; congratulates the choir on raising £31,500 for a number of different charities, and wishes all involved a positive future."
