Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the answer to question S6W-24951 by Jenny Gilruth on 20 February 2024, whether it has reviewed the independent report, Putting Learners at the Centre: Towards a Future Vision for Scottish Education, and, in particular, the section on support for curriculum and assessment, which refers to feedback received that Education Scotland "did not provide equity in support across the profession", and whether it is carrying out any follow-up work in relation to such feedback.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it will offer free BRCA gene testing to anyone living in Scotland aged 18 or over with one or more Jewish grandparents, of any type of Jewish origin, in a similar way to NHS England's Jewish BRCA Testing Programme, in light of the reported finding that having a BRCA gene fault is associated with an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer, particularly breast, ovarian, prostate and pancreatic cancer.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of it approaching four years since the report of the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Review, First Do No Harm, was published, and that three years have nearly passed since the Scottish Government published its plan for delivering on its commitment to implement, in full, the recommendations of the review, whether it will (a) provide an update on its delivery plan and (b) confirm when it expects to implement the remaining recommendations of the review to improve the lives of those impacted by sodium valproate, Primados and mesh implants.
