Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the First Minister what action the Scottish Government will take in response to reported figures from the road safety charity, Brake, which show that over the last year road deaths and serious injuries rose by 2.8% nationally, with Moray recording the highest increase with a rise of 83%.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the agreement by the UK Minister for Energy, during a debate at Westminster Hall led by John Lamont MP on 21 October 2025, to meet with residents in the Scottish Borders regarding their concerns about energy infrastructure, whether the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy will meet the Community Council Convention of the Highland Council area to listen to similar concerns that they have raised.

I refer the member to question S6O-04953 taken in the chamber on 18 September 2025, the answer to question S6W-40769 on 8 October 2025 and my subsequent letter to him dated 8 October 2025, a copy of which has been placed in the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (Bib. number 66234).

With regards to the UK Energy Minister as you will be aware he has no role in the planning and consenting process in Scotland and therefore does not have to adhere to Scottish Ministerial Code and our Scottish Ministerial Code: 2025 Edition - gov.scot expands on the guidance in relation to planning matters for all Ministers.
