Subordinate Legislation

Meeting date: 15 June 2022

Finlay Carson

That is helpful. Thank you.

Why is a reduced fee per consignment being proposed for those imports that are eligible for a reduced level of physical checks?

Finally, going back to what might be a drafting error, it would be useful to know whether the error relating to the 30 per cent frequency is in the UK draft. Before we give consent, can you let us know how that will be addressed? Ultimately, if the legislation is passed, the 30 per cent figure will stand. How will that be rectified if that is a drafting error?

We very much appreciate your insights and the work that you carried out way back in 2016. Thank you very much for joining us.

As that concludes our business in public, we will move into private session.

According to the witnesses from the previous panel, there are situations across Scotland where shooting foxes is not possible without being able to flush them from the undergrowth. Does that limit your ability to prevent damage to endangered ground-nesting birds?

Has any evidence ever been presented to the RSPB to suggest that flushing foxes might be the best method but the RSPB has decided that it does not want to do that, for other reasons?
