Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Christina McKelvie)

Welcome to the 18th meeting in 2013 of the European and External Relations Committee, which is an extra meeting, and to what will probably be the shortest public session.

I make the usual request that mobile phones and other electronic devices are switched off.

I give apologies for Willie Coffey and Helen Eadie. We believe that Helen is unwell. The committee sends our thoughts, prayers and best wishes to her and her family.

I welcome Patricia Ferguson, who is attending the meeting as a substitute for Helen.

Agenda item 1 is to decide whether to take business in private. That business is to discuss the post of the committee’s adviser for our inquiry into the aspects of the Scottish Government’s white paper on independence that relate to the European Union. Are members content to take that business in private?

Members indicated agreement.

We will now move into private session.

10:32 Meeting continued in private until 11:02.
