Good afternoon and welcome to the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee's 14th meeting in 2001. First, I thank committee members for their kindness and condolences during my recent absence. Secondly, I welcome David Davidson in his role as rapporteur from the Finance Committee and as someone who is always interested in the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee's work.

As members know, we have started an hour late, because the minister, Alasdair Morrison, is unfortunately down with flu. We will discuss rescheduling our meeting with him under agenda item 3.
