1 Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee decided to take items 6, 7 and 8 in private.

The Committee decided to take the next meeting on 6 September 2022 in private.




2 Health Inequalities:

The Committee took evidence from—

Maree Todd, Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport and Michael Kellet, Director, Population Health, Scottish Government.


3 Subordinate legislation:

The Committee took evidence on the Health (Tobacco, Nicotine etc. and Care) (Scotland) Act 2016 (Supplementary Provision) Regulations 2022 from—

Maree Todd, Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport and Jules Goodlet-Rowley, Head of Healthy Living Unit, Scottish Government.


4 Subordinate legislation:

The Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport moved—S6M-04798—That the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee recommends that the Health (Tobacco, Nicotine etc. and Care) (Scotland) Act 2016 (Supplementary Provision) Regulations 2022 be approved. The motion was agreed to without division or dissent.


5 Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the following negative instruments—

National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Scotland) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2022

Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008 (Notifiable Diseases and Notifiable Organisms) Amendment Regulations 2022

The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instruments.


6 Health Inequalities:

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 2.


7 National Care Service (Scotland) Bill :

The Committee agreed an initial approach to its scrutiny of the Bill at Stage 1.


8 Pre-Budget Scrutiny:

The Committee agreed its approach to Pre-Budget Scrutiny.
