Handling formal complaints

Letter from the Convener to the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for COVID Recovery of 6 October 2021

Dear Deputy First Minister

As you may be aware, the actions being taken by the Scottish Government in response to last session’s parliamentary inquiry into its handling of harassment complaints and other related reviews, falls within the Finance and Public Administration Committee’s remit.

The Committee at its meeting on 28 September noted the Government’s commitment to report to Parliament before the end of 2021 on progress towards meeting the high-level actions and outcomes set out in its Implementation Plan, and to produce an updated policy for handling of formal complaints to the same timetable. We agreed to invite you to give evidence on both the updated policy and the report to Parliament at an appropriate point in the coming months.

In the first instance, the Committee agreed to write to you to seek an update on when both documents can be expected to assist in our work planning. I look forward to receiving your response in due course.
