1. Declaration of interests:

Maggie Chapman declared an interest as the Rector of the University of Dundee.


2. Schools (Residential Outdoor Education) (Scotland) Bill:

The Committee considered the Bill at Stage 2.

The following amendments were agreed to (without division): 13, 14, 15, 3, 16, 4, 29, 30, 17, 18 and 19.

The following amendments were moved and, no member having objected, withdrawn: 1, 20, 8 and 26.

The following amendments were pre-empted: 5, 12, 22, 23 and 24.

The following amendments were not moved: 2, 28, 11, 21, 25, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 27.

The following provisions were agreed to without amendment: Sections 2, 3, 5 and the long title.

The following provisions were agreed to as amended: Sections 1 and 4.


The Committee completed Stage 2 consideration of the Bill.


3. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee agreed its work programme.

The Committee agreed to invite representatives from Trade Unions from University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee, University of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde to give evidence at a future meeting.

The Committee agreed to invite COSLA and the Scottish Council of Independent Schools to give evidence on VAT and independent schools at a future meeting.

The Committee agreed to take evidence on Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) at a future meeting.
