The Committee agreed to take item 6 in private.

The Committee heard evidence on the Redress for Survivors (Historical Child Abuse in Care) (Payments Materially Affected by Error) (Scotland) Regulations 2021 from—

3 Subordinate legislation:

John Swinney, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Covid recovery moved—S6M-01889—That the Education, Children and Young People Committee recommends that the Redress for Survivors (Historical Child Abuse in Care) (Payments Materially Affected by Error) (Scotland) Regulations 2021 be approved.

The motion was agreed unanimously.


4 Impact of Covid 19 on Children and Young People:

The Committee heard evidence from—

Jennifer King, Education Manager, Children & Families Service, Dundee City Council and Chair of ASN/CYP Services, Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES);

Laura Caven, Chief Officer, Children and Young People Team, COSLA;

Mike Corbett, National Official (Scotland), NASUWT;

Joan Tranent, Chief Social Worker, Midlothian Council and Deputy Chair of Children and Families Standing Committee, Social Work Scotland.

Michael Marra declared that he is a Councillor in Dundee.

Kaukab Stewart declared that she is an associate member of NASUWT.

6 Advanced Research and Invention Agency Bill (UK Parliament legislation)(In Private):

The Committee agreed a draft report.
