  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 03 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02331

That the Parliament congratulates The Kirkintilloch Band for winning third place at the Scottish Open Competition 2021; delights at their dedication, enthusiasm and hard work in tirelessly rehearsing for the Scottish Brass Band Association event in the Perth Concert Hall; notes that this Senior Band selected the piece And When the River Told for the championship, and understands that its inspiration is taken from a Hermann Hesse novel where the character observes and reflects on the never-ending flow and timelessness of the great River Tay; commends David Roberts for his superb services as conductor and the band members for capturing the beauty of this piece; recognises that the outstanding efforts of The Kirkintilloch Band were rewarded by the winning of a trophy to bring home to the Strathkelvin and Bearsden Constituency, and sends its very best wishes to the band members for their commitment and to their family members and friends for their ongoing encouragement and support.
