Baby Loss Awareness Week

  • Submitted by: Fulton MacGregor, Coatbridge and Chryston, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 05 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01452

That the Parliament recognises Baby Loss Awareness Week, which takes place in the week of 9 to 15 October 2021; understands that the loss of a baby at any stage is an unimaginable tragedy; notes that the week will focus on a general theme of wellbeing, which will explore what this means to those who have experienced pregnancy loss; acknowledges the great work done by Coatbridge charity Baby Loss Retreat, which works tirelessly, supporting parents and families who have been affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death; praises the charity for winning a Points of Light award in August 2020, and developing counselling and trauma therapy services for bereaved families; understands that the charity was able to adapt its services successfully during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and hopes that Baby Loss Retreat continues to get national recognition for the incredibly important work that it does.
