  • Motion reference: S6M-00339

That the Parliament recognises Girlguiding Scotland’s involvement in the Scottish Refugee Festival, which takes place from 14 to 19 June 2021; understands that the leading charity for girls and young women will offer taster sessions for girls aged 10 and above; notes that girls and young women will be able to take part in a range of fun activities online from Girlguiding’s unique programme to empower girls and boost their confidence; praises the dedicated group of volunteers who will lead the sessions; notes the sessions are being supported by Generation CashBack, an established project delivered by a partnership consortium of Boys’ Brigade Scotland, Girlguiding Scotland, Scouts Scotland and Youth Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities Programme; understands that the funding is used to grow the reach of community-based youth work in disadvantaged areas, enabling more young people to access safe spaces and develop their confidence, resilience and skills; applauds Girlguiding Scotland’s efforts to bring the benefits of guiding to girls all across Scotland, and wishes Girlguiding Scotland every success for the festival and its future work.
