  • Submitted by: Russell Findlay, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 27 May 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00145

That the Parliament pays tribute to Daniel Caplan, who tragically died in 2020 aged 17, seven months after being diagnosed with an incurable DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) brain tumour; welcomes the Doing It For Daniel concert being staged by Daniel’s friends and staff at Hutchesons’ Grammar School, Glasgow, and backed by artists such as Sir Mick Jagger, Emeli Sande and Sting; notes that the concert aims to raise significant sums for the charity, Funding Neuro, which funds research into brain tumours and, in particular, DIPG tumours; notes that tickets for the concert are available from the website of Hutchesons’ Grammar School, and supports Daniel’s parents, Brian and Alison, his brother, Saul, and the Funding Neuro charity as they campaign for greater research into finding ways to treat brain tumours, and with their plans to establish a Doing It For Daniel Foundation, which will provide support for children diagnosed with cancer.
