Congratulating Lorraine Watson on Achieving Scottish FA Category One Status as First Female Referee

That the Parliament congratulates Lorraine Watson from Thornton in Fife on being the first female to achieve a Scottish FA category one status allowing her to referee matches as high as the Scottish Premiership; understands that Lorraine made her debut by refereeing Edinburgh City’s 1-0 win over Berwick Rangers in Scottish Professional Football League Two in 2017; acknowledges that Lorraine has progressed through juvenile, amateur and junior ranks into the senior set-up and recognises that her achievements will be an inspiration to young female referees; believes that Lorraine has previously officiated at the Women’s Under-19 European Championships and been a fourth official at the Women’s Euro 2017 in the Netherlands along with refereeing games in the Women’s Champions League, and extends its very best wishes to Lorraine in her future refereeing career and its gratitude to her for her hard work and dedication to leading the way for women who are considering a future in refereeing and football.
