Community Art Takeover at the Stove

  • Submitted by: Emma Harper, South Scotland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 May 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00049

That the Parliament congratulates the Dumfries and Galloway Stove Network on its innovative new community art project, which aims to allow members of the community who have returned to, or indeed who have taken up, art during the COVID-19 lockdowns, to have their works displayed in the Stove Network Café in Dumfries for the month of June; understands that the Stove Network, an arts and community organisation in the heart of Dumfries High Street is a cafe, meeting place and arts venue with a diverse programme stretching across music and literature, visual and public art, film and theatre, to town planning, architecture and design; hopes that this public art display will encourage people to safely visit the site to socialise with other members of the community, particularly after what has been a challenging lockdown period for many; encourages members of the community who are interested to submit their works of art to the Stove Network by the 31 May 2021; encourages all to safely visit the Stove Network to view the exhibition during the month of June, and wishes the Stove Network every success with this project, and for the future.
