  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 May 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00038

That the Parliament acknowledges the opening of the new state-of-the-art Greenock Health and Care Centre to patients on 17 May 2021; recognises that the new facility hosts a wide range of services, including general practices, podiatry, physiotherapy, dental, speech and language therapy, mental health, sexual health and pharmacy, as well as district nursing and home care staff; appreciates that the Greenock Health and Care Centre was made possible through a £21 million investment from the Scottish Government and £1.3 million from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde; understands that the inner courtyard of the three-storey building is home to a memorial plaque for Janice Graham, an Inverclyde HSCP district nursing staff member who sadly died of COVID-19 last year; notes that contemporary artwork is incorporated throughout the building inspired by the natural and cultural heritage of Inverclyde, with lead artist, Stephen Hurrel, developing the building’s theme, Water Habitats: Lochs, Seas and Rivers; welcomes the £22.3 million investment in Greenock as part of the NHS board’s overall programme to build modern facilities for communities across Greater Glasgow and Clyde; hopes that the centre will also be used as a community hub with its creative spaces and café; believes that the new facility will benefit patients, and wishes the staff all the best as they come together to support patients and improve health outcomes for the people of Inverclyde.
