  • Motion reference: S5M-24305

That the Parliament congratulates the Community Wind Farm charity, Point and Sandwick Trust, on winning its sixth overall award, the Best Community Energy Project category, at the Highlands and Islands Renewable Energy Awards 2021; notes that the Trust runs the UK’s biggest community-owned windfarm at Beinn Ghrideag, operating three turbines as a 9MW scheme; acknowledges that, since the farm was energised in 2015, the Trust has produced £900,000 a year in net income for the community, and commends the charity for funding grassroots community projects, including initiatives that have supported the most vulnerable members of the Point and Sandwick areas through the COVID-19 pandemic.
