Golden Jubilee of the Victoria Radio Network

  • Submitted by: David Torrance, Kirkcaldy, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 03 March 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24285

That the Parliament commends the 50th anniversary of the Victoria Radio Network (VRN), based at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, making it one of Scotland’s longest serving hospital radio stations; notes that since its inception in March 1971 in a broom cupboard, with only two shows a week, the station and its presenters have gone from strength-to-strength, winning many accolades, including the National Hospital Radio Awards; understands that, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the station’s volunteers have valiantly kept the service going 24 hours a day for patients by recording and presenting programs from home; praises the dedication and commitment of everyone involved, both past and present, and wishes them every success in the future.
