Former West Lothian College Student Wins Young Achiever Award

That the Parliament congratulates the former West Lothian College Project Search student, Colin McGill, who is from Livingston, on winning the Young Achiever Award at the Scottish Health Awards on 9 December 2020; notes that this award recognises young staff across NHS Scotland who show initiative, drive and excellent judgement in their work to achieve exceptional results; understands that, in the years prior to joining the Project Search course, Colin struggled to gain employment; commends him on gaining the qualifications and life skills that enabled him to secure a permanent job as a porter at St John’s Hospital; acknowledges that Colin’s commitment, determination and hard work have made a big impression on his employer, and recognises the ongoing, very successful partnership between the college, NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council’s Supported Employment team to deliver Project Search.
