  • Date lodged: Monday, 21 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22759

That the Parliament acknowledges the launch of Shelter Scotland’s new Social Housing campaign on 21 September 2020, which it understands is its biggest campaign to date; notes the positive impact that building and maintaining social housing can have, including on tackling child poverty, meeting climate change targets, stimulating the economy and creating jobs; recognises the progress made by the Scottish Government on meeting its target of delivering 50,000 affordable homes, including 35,000 for social rent, during the course of this parliamentary session, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; acknowledges recent research from Shelter Scotland, CIH Scotland and SFHA calling for 53,000 affordable homes, including 37,100 for social rent, in the next parliamentary session to reduce housing need in Scotland, and wishes Shelter Scotland all the best as it campaigns on social housing in the coming months.
