Inaugural World Therapeutic Horticulture Day

  • Submitted by: Paul Sweeney, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 20 April 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08571

That the Parliament congratulates Trellis, Scotland's national therapeutic horticulture organisation, on the inaugural World Therapeutic Horticulture Day, taking place on 18 May 2023, which aims to raise awareness of what some of the Trellis network’s over 500 Scottish member groups and practitioners are doing to support wellbeing through horticulture for around 15,000 people in Scotland, as well as Scottish institutions and society; commends Trellis’s work as it joins people from across the UK, Canada, US, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Peru, Ukraine, Australia, Taiwan and other countries in this celebration of therapeutic gardening; notes that, until now, Trellis is the only national organisation in this field that has received vital funding from a number of government departments, and believes that the continuation of such funding is important to help deliver some of the Scottish Government's objectives in health, wellbeing, learning and reducing inequalities.
