Retirement of Jen Beattie from International Football

That the Parliament acknowledges the retirement of Jen Beattie from international football, and congratulates her on an outstanding contribution to the Scotland Women’s National Football Team; notes that Ms Beattie, from Jordanhill, earned 144 caps and scored 24 goals for Scotland over 15 years, winning her first cap at the age of 16; notes her role in helping Scotland to reach its first major women’s tournament, the 2017 European Championships, and her historic contribution as part of the Scotland Women's National Football Team that made it to the Women’s World Cup in 2019; celebrates Ms Beattie for her 15 years of service to the Scotland women’s football team, and applauds the work that she has done in inspiring young girls across the country to take part in football; notes that the centre-back continues to play with her club side, Arsenal, and wishes her every success in the future.
