That the Parliament celebrates the 10th anniversary of Scottish Environment LINK’s Nature Champions initiative, formerly known as Species Champions; understands that 171 cross-party MSPs have become champions for threatened and iconic species and habitats across Scotland since the launch of the initiative in 2013; understands that Nature Champions are supported by Scottish Environment LINK's more than 40 member organisations who are leading on the protection and recovery of those championed habitats and species, including the Scottish Primrose; highlights that what it sees as the success of the Nature Champions initiative has inspired similar programmes in Wales, Northern Ireland and England, as well as Scottish local authorities and amongst youth groups and schools; believes that the initiative has made a real difference in building awareness of what action is required to safeguard Scotland’s environment and biodiversity; encourages MSPs across all parties to do all that they can to support these efforts to ensure Scotland’s threatened and iconic species and habitats are protected and restored, and thanks Scottish Environment LINK for what it sees as its invaluable work in raising awareness of Scotland’s natural environment and working to build a more environmentally sustainable society.
