  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 25 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07624

That the Parliament congratulates current West of Scotland Football League Premier Division leaders Darvel FC on what it sees as the team's historic victory against Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen FC during the fourth round match of the Scottish Cup, played at Recreation Park in Darvel; considers that the 1-0 win, which has been described as one of the biggest upsets in the 149-year history of the Scottish Cup, is a testament to the talent and effort of both the team and management, in what it considers has been a superb season for Darvel FC; commends Jordan Kirkpatrick for what it sees as his now iconic goal, which has cemented Darvel FC’s place in Scottish Cup history; recognises what it sees as the passion and dedication shown by the club’s supporters and the wider Darvel community, and wishes Darvel FC continued success as they progress in the competition.
