Congratulating Paul Burns

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 18 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07483

That the Parliament congratulates Paul Burns on being named the first King’s Scout in Scotland; understands that Paul, as assistant club leader from the 32nd Greenock and District group, is the first Scout in the country to be given the highest award in the movement since the new Monarch took the throne, and that the 19-year-old was chosen from the whole West Scotland region, which includes Greenock, Renfrewshire, Paisley and Dunbartonshire, to represent his organisation at Westminster Hall in London during The Queen’s lying in state; notes that Paul was presented with the award at a special ceremony and said that he felt honoured to receive it and take part in Operation Feather, the code name for the operation around the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, and congratulates him on this fantastic achievement.
