  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 11 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07454

That the Parliament commends the Orkney Bike Run 2022, which raised a total of £20,898.47 for CLAN Cancer Support through registration fees and online donations; understands that 197 motorbikes took part in the charity run on 11 September 2022, which toured across the Orkney mainland; applauds Douglas Stanger and Richard Burton for organising what it sees as the hugely successful fundraiser, and increasing the number of participants by 30 from the previous year; thanks Highland Park for their significant donation of £10,000 to what it considers the very worthy cause, and the support of numerous local businesses who donated generously to the event, including Ortak who sponsored the posters; believes that this donation will make an enormous difference to cancer support in Orkney, and looks forward to future bike runs.
