That the Parliament congratulates Professor Sarah Wanless, from Banchory, Aberdeenshire, on being appointed a Member of the British Empire in the New Year Honours list for her services to seabird ecology; understands that Professor Wanless, who studied at the University of Aberdeen, began her career in the 1980s with the UK’s Centre of Ecology and Hydrology and undertook long-term research of seabird colonies on the Isle of May, often staying on the island for months at a time up until her retirement in 2016; further understands that she is an internationally respected scientist, publishing over 200 papers during her distinguished career, and believes this recognition to be thoroughly deserved.
