CalMac Donates IT Equipment to Branchton Community Centre

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 20 December 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-07310

That the Parliament thanks Gourock-based ferry firm CalMac for donating IT equipment and furniture to Branchton Community Centre, which, it understands, will allow it to continue offering classes to vulnerable groups; understands that management at the community centre were on the verge of closing down the IT suite before CalMac stepped in to donate a whole host of equipment, including 10 PCs, chairs and pedestals it does not need in its office anymore; considers that this will allow Branchton Community Centre to have spaces for up to 10 people at a time to take part in classes, courses and activities for all ages, including educational games for the youth club, digital inclusion training for the elderly, and improving employability skills for the long-term unemployed; welcomes what it sees as this generous donation from CalMac, which also ensures that this technology and equipment remains in use, and wishes Branchton Community Centre all the best as it continues to support people in the community.
