St Cyrus Volunteer Wins Beautiful Aberdeenshire Environmental Award at Inspiring Aberdeenshire Awards

That the Parliament congratulates St Cyrus volunteer, Caspar Lampkin on winning the Beautiful Aberdeenshire Environmental Award at the Inspiring Aberdeenshire Awards, which took place in October 2022; notes that Caspar won the accolade for his work to help resurface and improve the Mearns Coastal Heritage Trail, which runs along the coastline from Johnshaven to St Cyrus; understands that he has worked to restore dangerous sections of the pathway, creating new ponds and willow hedges to prevent field water causing further damage to the area; notes that interventions have been put in place to prevent further erosion to the area caused by sea damage; understands that Caspar uses and promotes the use of what it believes are environmentally friendly land management tools, and that he has led a number of education projects on permaculture, and recognises Caspar and the other Inspiring Aberdeenshire Award winners, who attended a civic reception on 16 November 2022 to celebrate their successes and contributions to their respective communities.
