  • Date lodged: Monday, 28 November 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06974

That the Parliament applauds what it sees as the vision of defence company Babcock, which welcomes 28 new apprentices and graduates at His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Clyde; notes that the new apprentices have started across a range of disciplines, which include mechanical, electrical, project controls, welding, and instrumentation; understands that four graduate apprentices have also joined, specialising in civil and structural engineering, architecture and business management; commends the initiative of Babcock to recruit graduates for the first time; understands that the strategy to provide work-based learning opportunities up to Master's degree level has been created in partnership with industry and the further and higher education sector, with Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Strathclyde taking the lead, and wishes the apprentices the best of success in their new roles.
